St. Thomas Aquinas

According to G.K. Chesterton, "Once Christ had Risen, it was inevitable that Aristotle should rise again," and this latter event had the good fortune to be overseen by one of the central figures in the entire history of the West: St. Thomas aquinas. For the proper relationship between philosophy and theology can be based on St. Thomas's maxim Gratia non tollit, sed perficit naturam, which, as Servais Pinckaers points out, could be rephrased as: theology does not destroy, but perfects philosophy. And there is no better starting point for the return of theology to the center of modern discourse than the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas.
