“Monika Jablonska has written a book that unites the two halves of Karol Wojtyła—the public Pope and the private Saint. Through her account we overhear the thoughts of a noble soul on its winding path to sainthood. Wind from Heaven is a natural companion to George Weigel’s great biography.”
— JOHN O’SULLIVAN
president of the Danube Institute in Budapest and a senior fellow of the National Review Institute in New York
“Wind from Heaven is an inspired work on Pope John Paul II by someone who truly understands the man, his writing, his verse, his faith, his culture, and his beloved Poland. We are indebted to Monika Jablonska for this poignant book on a great and thoughtful man.”
— PAUL KENGOR
author of A Pope and a President: John Paul II, Ronald Reagan, and the Extraordinary Untold Story of the 20th Century
“In Wind from Heaven, Monika Jablonska helps us discover the making of this extraordinary poet, priest, and saint whose unequivocal moral clarity and courage my father greatly admired, and whose conviction that evil must be defeated, not accommodated, he always shared.”
— MICHAEL REAGAN
New York Times Bestselling Author and the son of President Ronald Reagan
“Monika Jablonska is a remarkable woman, and in this volume offers us a remarkable understanding of Pope St. John Paul II not widely known—that is, as an artist and literary figure.”
— AUSTIN RUSE
author of Littlest Suffering Souls and Fake Science
“In her new work, Monika Jablonska showcases Karol Wojtyła’s life as one episode after another of theo-dramatic heroism, offering a taste of rich Catholic humanism to a generation of readers who were too young to experience the idealism and courage of the Wojtyła years.”
— TRACEY ROWLAND
University of Notre Dame (Australia), author of Catholic Theology and Ratzinger’s Faith: The Theology of Pope Benedict XVI
“From the world of theater comes the wordpersona, which means ‘mask.’ But this mask was for revelation, not concealment. The same actor could take on more than one role. By the end of this extraordinary book we know John Paul II as pastor, patriot, and Pole; literary author, quarry laborer, and political critic; philosopher, moralist, cultural observer, and contemplative; a man who accepted whatever role laid upon him by his Divine director.”
— DAVID W. FAGERBERG
University of Notre Dame, author of Consecrating the World
“Wind from Heaven is a beautiful guide to the life and works of John Paul II: from his powerful impact on the modern political world, through his perennial lessons on love, labor, parenthood, and death, to the detailed presentation of the themes and style of his artful and penetrating poems and plays. Highly recommended.”
